چکیده
We address the problem of two pairs of fermions living on an arbitrary number of single particle levels of a potential well (mean field) and interacting through a pairing force. The associated solutions of the Richardson’s equations are classified in terms of a number vl, which reduces to the seniority v in the limit of large values of the pairing strength G and yields the number of pairs not developing a collective behaviour, their energy remaining finite in the G → ∞ limit. We express analytically, through the moments of the single particle levels distribution, the collective mode energy and the two critical values Gcr and G − cr of the coupling which can exist on a single particle level with no pair degeneracy. Notably Gcr and G − cr merge when the number of single particle levels goes to infinity, where they coincide with the Gcr (when it exists) of a one pair system, not envisioned by the Richardson theory. In correspondence of Gcr the system undergoes a transition from a mean field to a pairing dominated regime. We finally explore the behaviour of the excitation energies, wave functions and pair transfer amplitudes finding out that the former, for G > Gcr, come close to the BCS predictions, whereas the latter display a divergence at Gcr, signaling the onset of a long range off-diagonal order in the system. The pairing Hamiltonian with two pairs in many levels
We address the pairing problem for two pairs of fermions in many levels of a potential well. We introduce a new number, referred to as ‘like-seniority’, which provides a measure of the degree of collectivity of the states. We point out that two critical values of the coupling constant might exist and we explore the behaviour of the energy, the wave functions and the transition amplitudes, in pa...
متن کاملExact Eigenstates of the Pairing-force Hamiltonian
The problem of determining the eigenstates of the pairing-force Hamiltonian is reformulated in terms of the eigenstates of a many-boson system with an N-body interaction. The N-body interaction includes the effects of the Pauli principle on the eigenstates of the pairing-force Hamiltonian. Explicit expressions for four types of eigenstates are derived. These four types are the eigenstates of N ...
متن کاملPairing Mechanism from Repulsive Interactions in Symmetric 2 d Models
In two-dimensional systems possessing a high degree of symmetry, the repulsive electron-electron interaction produces a pairing force; the mechanism would fail in the presence of strong distortions. We have studied this in the one-band and three-band Hubbard Model. From partially occupied orbitals one obtains pair eigenstates of the Hamiltonian with no on-site repulsion (the W = 0 pairs). The c...

متن کامل0 pairing in Hubbard and related models of low - dimensional superconductors
Lattice Hamiltonians with on-site interaction W have W = 0 solutions, that is, many-body singlet eigenstates without double occupation. In particular, W = 0 pairs give a clue to understand the pairing force in repulsive Hubbard models. These eigenstates are found in systems with high enough symmetry, like the square, hexagonal or triangular lattices. By a general theorem, we propose a systemati...
